Boyfriend and I are going to Sydney around December 27 (leaving from Byron bay) We are thinking to take the car for main reason side-seeing
We briefly know that :
- It is about a 10 hour drive ( 900km - 100km/h average speed)
- Takes 3 to 4 days (1h35 by plane)
- Hotels will be pretty expensive on the way as of december time

But we are willing to have a good side seeing and time off from fam (them taking a flight), has ever done it ? Any tip ?

I travelled the east-coast of Australia by the greyhound bus! It was fine, the buses are quite comfortable. It's the cheapest way to do it, if you drive a lot you will spend lots of money on gas!
